Observing the Weather and the Seasonal Cycle

Students recently began the first of a four-part weather observation that we will complete over the course of the year. As part of the second grade science standards, we study the seasonal cycle as well as weather. This year, we will observe the weather for two weeks during each season. Our observations will include temperature in both degrees Fahrenheit and degrees Celsius, precipitation, wind, and types of weather (sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, rainy, snowy, etc.). Students will use their observations to make connections about what they have learned about seasons to what they see right outside our window. Right now, we are on the lookout for signs of autumn!
